FISHERIES IMPACT ASSESSMENT AND PERMITTING

5SSR Directors have been working in and around water for more than 40 years. This experience has built a strong understanding of the federal and provincial environmental permits and approvals required for various activities in and around water. Through this work, 5SSR Directors have developed strong relationships with regulators based on trust and integrity through the professional delivery of services.

When working in and around water, avoiding impacts and associated permits can be just as important as understanding which permits are required. As such, 5SSR works with proponents, their engineers, and their contractors to avoid impacts to fish and fish habitat and reduce risks to project schedules and budgets associated with permits for in-water work. Where impacts cannot be avoided, 5SSR works with the proponent and the regulators to obtain the required permits and approvals.

5SSR Directors have extensive experience with the federal Fisheries Act and Species at Risk Act and specialize in projects where unavoidable impacts require offsetting. 5SSR has the experience and expertise to evaluate and design suitable offsetting projects and obtain the required permits, providing a turn-key solution for projects in and around water.

The following project profiles outline some of the experience of 5SSR staff with environmental compliance permitting.
